Workstories
Creating better spaces.

Workstories is an award-winning, London-based workplace design and product business, creating high-quality furniture and integrated power solutions for commercial spaces across the UK.

In this Client Insights piece, we explore how Workstories adopted an approach to R&D that fits the way its business operates.

A finished workplace rarely reveals everything it took to create it.

Behind every Workstories product sits a network of designers, engineers, manufacturers, material specialists and suppliers. Across booths, integrated electrics, seating, storage, tables and workstations, ideas are tested, components refined and production methods challenged to create products that perform better and last longer.

Setting The Standard.

The Financial Times ranked Workstories 35th among Europe’s 300 Long-Term Growth Champions, making it the highest-ranked business from the furniture sector on the list.

That momentum can be seen across its portfolio. In 2025 alone, Workstories launched 12 new products. Pico received a Red Dot Award, while Alta and Sylva were awarded Design Guild Marks for excellence in British furniture design.

Scaling With Purpose.

As Workstories expands through acquisitions, new products and continued investment in UK manufacturing and circular design, the scale and complexity of its technical work grow with it.

The leadership team at Workstories recognised they needed an updated approach to R&D tax relief.

Closer to the Detail.

Group CFO  & Operations Director, Workstories

In a dynamic business like ours, people move, priorities shift and new products take shape and evolve. Depending on the project, the right conversation might be with an internal designer, a senior manufacturing engineer in the UK or a specialist component supplier overseas.

We chose Gryff Mason because we needed an R&D partner we could trust to reach those people, understand the technical picture first-hand and keep that record current as the work progressed, without leaving the finance team to orchestrate every conversation.

It was also important to me and the wider leadership team to have live, centralised visibility of where technical effort was being invested, who was contributing and how that work was evolving across the business.

Working with Gryff Mason has been a pleasure. We set a high bar for the products we bring to market, and their approach keeps pace with that ambition. Through People and Projects, we now complete the technical side of our claim six months earlier, supported by a secure, live record that remains current throughout the year. That gives us clearer visibility of our R&D and helps us use the incentive more effectively.”
